Bobby Rydell's mid-'60s period with Capitol Records was a brief one, following a string of big hits for the Cameo label. His Capitol years might not have been considered, except that his Cameo hits have never appeared on a legitimate CD, which has resulted in a legion of frustrated fans. After all, only two of the 25 songs here made the Top 100, and those just barely scraped the bottom of the charts. Rydell made more adult-oriented music for Capitol than he had for Cameo, mining Bobby Darin's territory with a mixture of dramatic, Vegas-style pop ballads (including a laid-back interpretation of Paul Anka's "Diana") and country-pop ("It Takes Two" and the excellent "Open for Business as Usual").
